How AdvoraHQ uses cookies and similar technologies, what they do, and how you can control them.
The Short Version
AdvoraHQ uses cookies for three main purposes: to make the website work correctly, to understand how readers use the site so it can be improved, and to display relevant advertising. You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or change your choice at any time using your browser settings. This Cookie Policy explains in detail what each cookie does. It works alongside the Privacy Policy, which covers how personal data is handled more broadly.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your device and remember information about your visit, such as your preferences or whether you are logged in.
Cookies do not contain personally identifying information by themselves, but they may be combined with information you provide (like your email address) to identify you across visits.
Similar Technologies
This Cookie Policy applies to cookies and similar technologies that perform the same function, including:
- Web beacons / pixels — Tiny image files that report when a page is loaded
- Local storage — Larger data storage in your browser similar to cookies
- Session storage — Temporary storage cleared when you close your browser
- Software development kits (SDKs) — Code that collects similar data on mobile apps
For simplicity, all of these are referred to as “cookies” throughout this policy.
Categories of Cookies
Cookies on AdvoraHQ fall into four categories:
1. Strictly Necessary Cookies (Essential)
These cookies are required for the website to function. They enable basic features like page navigation, account login, and security. The site cannot work properly without them, so they cannot be disabled.
Examples on AdvoraHQ: WordPress session cookies, security and anti-spam cookies.
2. Functional Cookies
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization, such as remembering your preferences (font size, theme, language). If you disable them, some features may not work as expected.
Examples on AdvoraHQ: WordPress preference cookies, theme display preferences.
3. Analytics Cookies
These cookies help understand how visitors use the site — which pages are most read, how long visitors stay, where traffic comes from — so the site can be improved. Analytics cookies do not identify you personally; they aggregate behavior across all visitors.
Examples on AdvoraHQ: Google Analytics cookies.
4. Advertising Cookies
These cookies are used to deliver advertising more relevant to your interests, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They may be set by AdvoraHQ or by advertising partners such as Google AdSense.
Examples on AdvoraHQ: Google AdSense cookies, DoubleClick cookies.

Your Choices: How to Manage Cookies
You have several ways to control cookies on AdvoraHQ:
1. Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit AdvoraHQ from a region requiring cookie consent (such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), a cookie banner will appear allowing you to accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customize your choice by category. You can revisit this choice at any time by clicking the “Cookie Preferences” link in the site footer.
2. Browser Settings
All major browsers allow you to view, manage, block, or delete cookies. Instructions for the most popular browsers:
If you block all cookies, some parts of the site may not function correctly — particularly login features and any interactive elements.
3. Third-Party Opt-Outs
To opt out of specific tracking by third parties:
- Google Analytics: Install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on
- Google Ads personalization: Visit Google Ad Settings to turn off personalized ads
- Industry-wide opt-out (U.S.): Use Digital Advertising Alliance or Network Advertising Initiative
- Industry-wide opt-out (EU): Use Your Online Choices
4. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control Signals
AdvoraHQ respects both the “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal and the “Global Privacy Control” (GPC) signal sent by modern browsers and privacy-focused extensions. When your browser sends one of these signals, AdvoraHQ automatically treats it as a rejection of non-essential cookies — no consent banner action is required from you.
This means: if you have GPC or DNT enabled, advertising and analytics cookies will not be loaded on your visit, regardless of cookie banner settings. Essential cookies required for site operation may still load.
To enable these signals in your browser: Firefox and Brave have them built in; Chrome and Safari may require a privacy extension such as Privacy Badger or Global Privacy Control.
Mobile Device Identifiers
On mobile devices, advertising and analytics may use device identifiers instead of (or in addition to) cookies. Common identifiers include:
- Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) — Apple devices
- Google Advertising ID (GAID) — Android devices
You can control these identifiers in your device’s privacy settings:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → toggle off “Allow Apps to Request to Track”
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → reset advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads

If you are a California resident, you have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information collected through cookies. To exercise this right, click “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the cookie consent banner or contact Daniel.Hayes@advorahq.com.
